Movember is an awesome initiative for sure, but will it mean that you’ll have a tough time filling your time slots in the next couple of weeks? No, the opposite!
Movember is the month where men all over the UK grow out their moustaches to raise funds and awareness for men’s health. In 13 years the Movember Foundation has funded more than 1,200 men’s health projects around the world.
But! Will Movember make it hard for you to get customers to your barbershop?
No, the opposite! Movember is rather the month when you have the chance to do good and build customer loyalty. Here are 5 simple ways to make the most out of Movember this year:
1. Add special moustache treatments
Letting a mo grow doesn’t mean you have to let go completely. Why not remind people that they’ll need some professional help from a barber, in order to avoid looking like a homeless.
Offer people the possibility to get their face in order – and you’ll donate 10 pounds to the UK Movember Foundation.
2. Try something different
Movember is all about “changing the face of men’s health”. A moustache is one way to go, but it doesn’t have to be the only way. Let your potential customers know that if they haven’t planned to shave it all off, this is a great month to try something different.
Did you know?
- 2,400 in the UK are diagnosed with testicular cancer each year.
- Prostate cancer is the most common cancer among men in the UK.
- 1 in 4 of British men will be affected by a mental health problem.
- On average, 12 men take their life each day in the UK.

3. Stock up on the right products
Stock up on facial hair products and tools in your barbershop. A moustache is not a hamster, it actually requires some dedication and maintenance. A moustache needs caring, love and… products. Lots of products. Everything from beard combs to scrubs and oils will be selling like Jesus toast on eBay.
4. Grow yourself
Join Movember yourself! You’ll be supporting a brilliant cause while getting more attractive. Scientific research suggests that bearded men are more attractive than clean shaved ones. Win-win in its purest form.

5. Shave ’em and donate!
Towards the end of the month, we’re betting many men will be regretting their tawny moustaches. Remind people that the most important goal of Movember is to raise money, not look silly. So, offer people the possibility to get their face in order – and you’ll donate 10 pounds to the UK Movember Foundation.
